Sump pressure has risen beyond the controller's acceptable condition.

This condition appears in the STS troubleshooting guide as a fault condition that requires the cause to be corrected rather than repeatedly reset.

Likely causes

  • Sump pressure-control valve failure involving poppet, Sullicon, spiral, blowdown or pneumatic valve functions
  • Faulty solenoid valve
  • Pressure regulator fault or incorrect adjustment
  • Minimum-pressure/check-valve problem on applicable lubricated compressors

Operator-safe first checks

  • Record the displayed pressure and exact alarm text.
  • Stop repeated restart attempts if the high-pressure condition returns.
  • Keep clear of pressurized piping, separator vessel and relief devices.

Trained maintenance / service checks

  • Inspect the applicable pressure-control valves and their adjustment.
  • Check solenoid operation and wiring.
  • Check the pressure regulator and, where applicable, the minimum-pressure/check valve.

Can the compressor keep running?

No. Treat a recurring high-sump-pressure fault as a stop-and-diagnose condition.
